Gutter installation instructions for GutterClear 365 ™

  1. GutterClear 365 ™ comparisonSet up ladder to building. Ensure ladder is secured on solid, level, and dry ground before proceeding to next step.
  2. Secure ladder to building by using a rope or bungee cord around a rung of the ladder and onto the gutter. Ensure ladder is properly fastened to the building before proceeding to next step.
  3. Thoroughly remove all debris from gutters and downspouts and ensure gutters are clear and free of all debris. Using a hose, run water throughout the gutter system to remove all excess dirt and debris. Ensure that gutter system is completely clear before proceeding to next step.
  4. Check the condition and pitch of gutters. If the gutter condition is poor or the pitch of the system toward the downspout is not at least 1” of decline for every 16’ of gutter, this could be a water flow challenge that the GutterClear 365 ™ system will not correct.
  5. Determine whether to install GutterClear 365 ™ under the hangers (UTH) or over the hangers(OTH). If gutter hangers sit high in the gutter, the UTH method is recommended. The OTH method is only recommended when gutters hangers, nails, brackets, or spikes are situated low in the gutter. If GutterClear 365 ™ is installed under a low hanging hanger, it may create a space above that accumulates debris.
  6. To install UTH, place each GutterClear 365 ™ insert into the gutter, coated surface up, under the gutter hangers. All 4’ sections must be compressed a 1⁄4” against the next which is a total of 1⁄2” inch compression between adjacent sections. (IMPORTANT: Coated surface must be facing upwards!)
  7. GutterClear 365 Side ViewTo install OTH, cut the material from the bottom up within 1 inch of the top of the material. Fit GutterClear 365 ™ around the gutter hanger, allowing the product to encompass it. Spikes or nails will only require one cut. Hidden hangers or hangers that are wider than a nail or spike will require a cut in the shape of a T. For hidden hangers, cut from the bottom up within an inch of the top of the material.
  8. Install miters first and work outwards from them. Mitered sections will perform best if supported by a full 4 foot section leading into the area as miters bear the most stresses. Inside and outside miters must be cut on an angle in order allow for unimpeded water flow. Improperly cut miters may leave too much GutterClear 365 ™ material in the open cavity of the mitered area and overflow may result from heavy rains. Miter boxes should be utilized as they provide the proper angles and it is best to use a cutting instrument with a long blade to ensure straight, uniform cuts.

How to Measure Depth:

Measure the top of your gutter from front to back. This determines the gutter depth. It should be a 5″ or 6″ depth. The standard GutterClear 365 ™ insert fits all 5″ and 6″ K Style gutters. Half Round Styles are available in 5″ and 6″ depths.

How to Measure Linear Feet:

Measure the length of the existing gutters on your house to determine linear feet.
